Sutherland Global Services has chosen Technopolis, a private IT park at the Cochin Special Economic zone, to set up its Kerala center.

An agreement for establishing a BPO facility has been successful concluded, said Mr.George Muthoot, Director of Technopolis, a Muthoot Pappachan IT park, the first such in the private sector in Kerala.

Sutherland Global will be the anchor client for Technopolis, which is expecting to sign in two more IT majors very soon.

Sutherland expects to invest Rs 120 crore in Kochi and propose to hire at least 3000 professionals over the next three years.

On the reasons for expanding in kerala, Mr Dilip Vellodi, Chairman and CEO, Sutherland Global Services, said: ?We are confident that the talent pool and robust infrastructure in Kerala will provide advantages of cost, scalability, and more importantly, value across the spectrum of services we offer our clients,?

Currently employing 8000 employees in India alone, Sutherland manages global client relationship in 14 locations across America, Canada, India and the Philippines.

SUTHERLAND Global Services, one of the leading players in the BPO space, has decided to set up their Kerala center in Technopolis, the first private sector information technology park in the state, promoted by the Muthoot Pappachan Group.

The agreement for establishing the BPO facility in Technopolis was concluded here between the two parties. Sutherland has initially taken 35000 square feet in the 3.5 lakh Technopolis that has come up in the Cochin Special Economic Zone, The company will be taking 1.10 lakh square feet in Technopolis when its center becomes fully operational.

The New York headquarters Sutherland expects to hire 3000 professionals in the next three years. The company, with 20 years of industry experience and over 8000 employees in India alone, manages global client relationship in 14 locations across America, Canada, India and Philippines. Kerala marks Sutherland?s second new geographic expansion in a year. In july 2005, the company launched its operations in Philippines. ?We are confident that the talent pool and robust infrastructure in Kerala will provide value across the spectrum of services that we offer our clients,?Mr.Dilip Vellodi, chairman and CEO, Sutherland Global Services said.

Technopolis advantage of being in an SEZ is an added attraction for companies, Mr.Thomas George Muthoot said. Designed by Jurong Infrastructure (India), the Technopolis is in the process of negotiating with other leading companies for providing space, he said.
